 Ways We Serve

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35

Our little church has a giant heart.   We believe that all people are God's children and in this belief we must take care of each other.   Every aspect of who we are is caring for one another as Jesus has commissioned us to do.       We take such joy in sharing the love of Christ.

Blessing Box

Along with Seeds of Hope Farm, First Christian Church of Highland, IN has the Blessing Box (or a mini food pantry) that is a no-questions-ask pantry offering non-perishable food items, paper goods, cleaning supplies and hygiene products.   We stock this pantry nearly every day.   Donations are greatly appreciated.

The Book Nook

Right next to our Blessing Box is our Book Nook offering free books!   Anyone is invited to take books (for all ages though we have more books for children).   In partnership with Love INC of Greater Hammond, this ministry provides books and coloring books to kids of all ages (and a small library of books for adults) who have either lost all of their possessions or maybe never had a book to call their own.   We gladly receive appropriate donated books, coloring books and crayons.   Please contact the church if you are interested in receiving books for your family.

Senior Food Box Program (CSFP with the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana)

Partnering with the Northwest Indiana Food Bank, FCC provides seniors 60+ with a monthly box of food (about 30-40 pounds) through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program.   Each box contains "staples" of versatile, healthy foods to help seniors have better food security.   To find out if you qualify or to apply for the CSFP, check out this link and sign up today!

Homeless Meals

Several times a year, volunteers serve meals to the homeless through Hammond City Rescue Mission.   Meals are prepared and served by volunteers from the church.   If you are interested in participating in this important ministry, please contact the church office.

Other Outreach Ministries

We offer many ways to give of your gifts and talents year round.   From Souper Bowl of Caring to Thanksgiving and Christmas, we offer many short term seasonal opportunities.   We have a good partnership with Church World Service (making dozens of hygiene kits annually) and Love, INC. (assisting to provide for the varied needs of folks in our community).   If you are looking for a way or ways to connect your talents with the needs of the area, feel free to contact the church for guidance.

For those who would like to knit in the company of others, the group meets every 2nd & 3rd Tuesday of the month (10 A.M.-12 P.M.)
