David Boban, Director of Music

Hi everyone! My name is David Boban, and I am very excited to join you in the next few months as the music director for First Christian Church. Everyone I have worked with so far has been incredibly kind and accommodating as I transition from my current position, so thank you to Pastor Becky and everyone else for that!

I have lived in this area for most of my life. I grew up in Whiting, went to Hammond schools, and got a couple degrees at Purdue Northwest. I am a lifelong musician, and started playing piano at the age of five. I started playing piano in churches at the age of 12 and have been working in churches ever since. After college, I started a private music lessons business called Original Music Lessons which I still maintain, and also teaching music in schools. I worked at St. John the Baptist school as their general music teacher and choir director for a few years, and currently teach advanced and beginning choir as well as music history at Hammond Central High School.

My beautiful wife, Maribel, and I have three children and we live right here in Highland. Mikey goes to Bishop Noll Institute and is a senior, and Emily and Samantha go to St. Thomas More school in Munster and are in 5th and 2nd grade respectively. I am positive that you all know my dad Richard Boban who led me to your church. He speaks very highly of all of you, assuring me this will be a great fit for all of us.
